گت بلاگز Guides The Log – How to use The Log

The Log is one of Clash Royale’s most useful cards in the vast majority of the current Meta decks. The reason for this isn’t due to its damage or ability to take down enemy towers but rather due to its utility and flexibility as arguably one of the most multifaceted cards in the game. What do I mean by this exactly? Well not only does the Log have the ability to crush all low health units such as skeletons and goblins in their various forms, but it can do so with ease, not requiring much precision as illustrated in the below video against Goblin barrels. In contrast with the zap, you don’t have to be precise with positioning at all.

Strategy

However, in my opinion the greatest feature of the log is its pushback ability. In the first clip in the video you can see in slow motion as a Log creates a victory out of what should have been a loss. The Royal Giant is positioned to get one more shot off to win the game but the log knocks it back, stalling it by no more than half a second and delaying its shot which allow the enemy troops the time required to get down the other building snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Thus, there is more to the log than initially meets the eye. Yes it is great at taking out goblins and skeletons and yes its damage and distance is perfect for annihilating enemy Princesses but the subtleties of this card also means it give you something else, equally as valuable: Time. Not much of it granted, but often enough to make all the difference.

Log vs Mini P.E.K.K.A

A classic example of this is using a Log vs the Mini P.E.K.K.A. Now whilst the log doesn’t kill the Mini Pekka, it does knock a decent amount of health off it and if timed right, can prevent it from getting even a single hit off. The knock back is a little bit like a stun – it probably delays the Mini P.E.K.K.Aby a total of around a second giving other defensive troops time to carry on firing. This is especially useful against to get the Mini P.E.K.K.Aoff larger troops like Giants and Golems etc.

Log vs Barbarians

This is something illustrated in the above video very well. Barbarians can be one of the biggest counters to Giants and especially Royal Giants. All Royal Giant users know that facing an enemy with barbs is going to be an uphill battle. The log helps to even this out a little. It does fairly decent damage to each of the barbarians, crucially knocking them back allowing the RG to get of a few extra shots before being killed and then ensure that the barbarians are easily and quickly taken out by any remaining troops. Given the popularity of the barbs as a defensive unit currently, this is surely one of the reasons the log as become so commonly used.

You can see this clip + other uses of The Log in the below video:

Log vs Goblin Barrel

The Goblin Barrel is one of those tricky little cards that for the vast majority of the time is fairly ineffective. However, if it catches you off card and without defense, it can be devastating to your towers. Traditionally zap was your best defense against this aggressive combo but a clever Goblin Barrel wouldn’t always aim for the center of your tower and as the zap is usually used in anticipation of the GBs landing point, it can be a risky tactic to try and play the guessing game. The Log on the other hand is a very effective counter to this. You don’t need to be precise with your placement as the width of the Log will cover all the space you need and obviously the length will take care of the entire side of your base.

Log vs Tombstone

I did a video not too long ago about just how prevalent the Tombstone was as both a defensive and aggressive building despite its minimal cost. This remains to be the case with the Tombstone being a common placeholder in higher players’ decks. The log takes away the majority of life from the tombstone and is a great way to eradicate its benefits. Crucially the log doesn’t just take out the building – it immediately kills the skeletons that spawn when the Tombstone goes down. This can be especially useful if you are using a Giant to attack and the put up the Tombstone defensively.

I hope you found this guide useful and can see from the video just how effective the Log is in many very different ways. If you did enjoy this, please subscribe to Chucky’s channel for future video updates.
