The Royal Giant is widely considered one of the most powerful cards within Clash Royale and as such, many medium to high level decks are focused around it. You’ll rarely find a day on the forums or Reddit where there isn’t at least one thread complaining that the Royal Giant is over powered. The reason for this is fairly simple. At both ends of the game, the Royale Giant isn’t that good. That is to say – a low leveled Royal Giant is fairly useless and an Royal Giant at max level arena is also fairly useless. But for everything in between, it’s extremely powerful. Players tend to try and over-level there Royal Giants because of the huge advantage it gives you and so playing from 2500 to 5000 trophies, you’ll find decks littered with the Royal Giant.

Best Anti-Royal Giant Decks

One of the current most popular Royal Giant decks is the Royal Giant Furnace Deck. This is the deck I’m going to concentrate on countering today as not only is it hard to play against, but it also comes up so frequently that the best way to get rid of it is for the counter decks to rise in popularity and force a change. Royal Giant Furnace Deck

The video below shows two potential counter decks that you can use – we are going to look at both methods. Each of them is extremely different from the other and uses a different tactic to overwhelm this popular Royal Giant Deck.

The first method in the video is the “Mass Units Method” where troops are used to simply overwhelm the Royal Giant deck. The deck is comprised of the following cards (no Legendary cards).

Mass Units Deck

The idea behind it is very simple: Overwhelm the enemy deck. One of the weaknesses of any Royal Giant deck is that it heavily depends on the Royal Giant to Tower Damage. There are two ways to counter this – the first is obviously to annihilate the Royal Giant quickly, but the second and more successful way is to put so much pressure on that the Royal Giant player doesn’t have time to save up the 6 elixir needed to deploy it. If Royal Giant players don’t deploy their Royal Giants, they will inevitably lose.

As the video shows, this deck is all about attacking from all angles using rage. Sending in Giant with mass minions under rage will panic everybody and it takes a lot to be able to defend against that. To then be able to plonk down 3 Musketeers is a very scary prospect. The Royal Giant player has a choice of using his Lightening on your elixir pump but if he does that it will be an expensive trade for him as your musketeers will roam free against him.

Essentially, you pile so much pressure on and put the player in such a difficult place that they become overwhelmed, and as the video shows, get overcome by units.

The second method is the Golem Graveyard deck and is comprised of the following cards:

Golem Graveyard Deck

The idea of this deck is to specifically counter fire spirits and the Furnace and once again make the Royal Giant user work so hard in defense that they don’t end up having enough time to deploy their Royal Giants. You can see how this works in the second attack in the video. On one hand the Golem demands a lot of elixir spend to be able to defend against it – it also kills the skeleton army when it breaks and fire spirits do very little damage to it. They only real defense the Royal Giant user has is Mega minion but this hits too slowly and when the Golem is backed up by its only Mega Minion it becomes very difficult to defend against.

On top of this and whilst the Golem is assaulting the tower, you can also use your graveyard spell which will create serious panic as the Royal Giant player won’t be able to successfully defend against both attacks. Whilst the RG user will probably get some damage off on your side, the Golem push will be extremely hard for him to defend against and so should give you a serious advantage.
