Best Golem Deck That Won Clash Royale King’s Cup ($20,000)
Hey guys whats going on? RSivak here today with the best Golem deck which helped TMD Yao Yao won the 2016 King’s Cup! He used his Golem Log deck to crush through the competition to win $20,000!! But without too much chit chat let’s get right into the deck and how you can use it to help you push!
Best Golem Deck in Clash Royale!
Golem – The Golem, the tankiest card in the entire game. Capable of absorbing huge amounts of damage and still deal hefty damage to the tower once it gets there. Expensive and slow, you have to be careful when placing him down as this will allow your opponent to push back with everything he has. But once you get your push rolling, the Golem will demolish the tower. Used to tank for the card behind it who will deal the damage while your Golem takes the brunt of your enemies attacks.
The Log – With the rise of Tombstone as the hard counter to Golem decks, this versatile card can destroy a half hp Tombstone and the 4 skeletons it will spawn, kill Princesses one level higher, push back all your enemy troops giving you extra time, counter Skeleton Army and Goblin Barrel, and can be used finish off a weakened tower you don’t want to waste a lightning on. Arrows can be used instead.

Baby Dragon – Great mini tank, after the recent buff to attack speed, it can deal a hefty bit a damage. Counters Barbarians, Minion Horde, Minions, and Skeleton Army so well. These would be the cards that rip through your Golem, but with your Baby Dragon spitting fire, these troops will be unable to survive long enough to kill off your Golem.
Mega Minion – One of the most overused cards, amazing at defense, shutting down Hog Riders, Musketeers, Wizards, Bombers and other support troops behind your enemies tank troop. This cheap 3 elixir card can then turn around and deal hundreds of damage on to your opponents tower, and since it can’t be one shot by Fireball at Tournament Standard, this card will cause your opponents offense to become a failed offense. Although the Mega Minion is going to be nerfed, it is still too strong and too versatile. Please take a look at this guide to see all of the tips on using Mega Minion!
Archers – Archers have been on the rise lately, dealing very nice chip damage to towers if the tower is distracted, great at countering the Mega Minion, Minion Horde, or the plain old Minions. Do a great job defending against Lava Hounds and Inferno Dragons. A perfect damage dealer behind your Golem, picking off enemy troops while your Golem pushes through.
Tombstone – Your one defensive building, use it to pull Hog Riders, Golems, and Giants off course to their death. When placed on the side your pushing on, the constant swarm of skeletons can be a nuisance for your enemy to deal with as they deal a lot of damage if they build up.
More: Why you should use Tombstone
Zap – Perfect utility car, reset the charge on Inferno Dragons and Towers that have locked onto your Golem in a pinch, or weaken Minion Hordes, counter swarm troops effectively and for a cheap cost to boot.
Lightning – The best counter you have to Inferno Towers, Wizards, Witches, Musketeers, 3 Musketeers, Mega Minion. Able to one shot all of these except the Inferno Tower, which will survive with a sliver of health, and deal 300 damage to the tower as well. Timing it on Inferno Towers is key, about 2 seconds after the Inferno has locked onto your Golem will be perfect to bring it down low enough that it can’t shred through your Golem. Can be used to bring down a tower for a last second victory, be wary of your opponent placing high hp troops in anticipation of a Lightning Strike. One of the main parts making this deck the best Golem deck at the moment!
You want to see what type of deck your opponent is using, save Lightning for Double Elixir, or until you know they don’t run 3 Musketeers. Start the Golem off in the back, so you can build up a strong push, start off with a simple push, see how they defend and act accordingly for your next pushes. They defend with Barbarians or Minion Horde, use the Baby Dragon in your next push. They defend with Tombstone, or Cannon, make sure you Log those buildings down. They drop Witches, Wizards, Musketeers, or Inferno Towers prepare your Lightning Spell. Use the Mega Minion with Archer and Tombstone to defend any major push of their own. Log down any Princesses, Skeleton Armies, or Goblin Barrels, push back any major pushes giving you extra time to defend.
Best Push: Golem, Baby Dragon, Archers, Mega Minion with a trickle of Skeletons from Tombstone, Lightning for Inferno Towers.
Simple Push: Golem with Archer, or Baby Dragon, paired with a Zap or Mega Minion.
Watch out for Inferno Dragons and Inferno Towers, as they can easily rip through your Golems massive hp. Hog Cycle decks can be a pain as they keep pushing you forcing you to defend consistently, the key is keep an elixir advantage against them, make positive elixir trades, so eventually they will run dry will you can push back with a Golem.
- Positive Elixir trades are crucial if you want to stay ahead of your opponent with a Golem deck.
- Don’t worry if they push the other lane immediately after you place a Golem this is expected, defend the push with Mega Minion and Tombstone, Archers just in case.
- Always save your Lightning for 3 Musketeers, there is a increase of 3 Musketeer usage recently and saving Lightning for them can save you a tower.
- Don’t waste a Lightning on a 100-200 hp left tower, unless they place another worthy troop to Lightning, The Log can be perfect for destroying that tower.
