It’s Blaxeturner here and I come with you a very successful deck of mine. With this deck, I got the 12-1 Grand Challenge with all cards at tournament standard except for a level 3 Poison. On the ladder, I have a high of 3461 as a level 10. My card levels are 9.5/7/3/2

Miner Balloon Deck

Card Breakdown

Miner – This will be your solid Balloon tank. Unlike other decks such as Lava Hound or Giant, the Miner will immediately tank for the tower for low elixir while also dealing a significant amount of damage. Useful for also taking out Musketeers, Wizards, or Princesses which are threats against the Balloon.

Balloon – This card has one of the highest DPS in the game. Leaving this 5 Elixir card alone on a tower will either take it out or deal severe damage. At tournament standards, it has 1400 hit points and does almost 800 damage.

Zap – There are so many cases where the extra Zap would get in that extra shot and with a high damage card such as the Balloon, it will be worth it. It is also useful for finishing minions after an Ice Spirit or having the tower re-target onto your Miner. In cases where you find yourself facing an inferno tower, the Zap will come in very handy to reset the Inferno.

Ice Spirit – One of the most versatile cards in the game. Perfect on defense when you are low on Elixir while also being a threat on offense. Having this guy behind your balloon will be deadly as it will reduce Minions to Zapping range as well being able to freeze the tower for two whole seconds. The fact that this card is immune to Zap is a plus.

Poison – One of the most popular cards in the game. Useful for taking out minion hordes while also slowing the tower down. It will take out mass numbers of troops for the cost of four elixir while also significantly being able to damage the tower.

Baby Dragon – One of the most underrated cards in the game. If left alone, he can do almost 600 chip damage. Supported behind or in front of a balloon, the 1100 hit points acts as an extra air tank and minion killer. It is great on defense for hordes of both air and ground troops and will can solo all lava pups easily.

Inferno Tower – With the rising meta of Giant Poison, this card is a must. Slicing through tanks like butter, countering so many decks easily, the only weakness being hordes and the zap. Both problems can be solved with the Ice Spirit. Ice Spirit will eliminate small Hordes such as the Minion Horde while also Freezing troops allowing the Inferno Tower to charge up after being Zapped.

Mini P.E.K.K.A – An optional Legendary replacement would be the Lumberjack due to its quick movement and extra rage spell effect. This deck has a lot of splash support. The Mini P.E.K.K.A is one of the best at taking down point damage troops. Whether it is a musketeer, miner, or another Mini P.E.K.K.A , it will take it down for you. Also one of the higher DPS troops in the game.

General Gameplan

The main threat to your deck are air troops so you will have to read your opponent to effectively deal with them.

Rotation

One of the common ways for players to lose is to have a card out of rotation.

When you don’t have the Cannon for the Hog Rider or the arrows for the Minion Horde, it can mean disaster for you.

Being able to read your opponent’s rotation, knowing which cards they have and don’t have in their hand will allow you to execute combos with more confidence.

Air Counters

With the Balloon being the main damage dealer, you will have to read all air support from your opponent and executing the appropriate combos to counter their counters. Miner is used for Princess, Musketeer, Wizard, Ice wizard, or Archers. Most other cards such as the Ice Spirit, Baby Dragon, Zap, and Poison are used for Minion support.

Being able to have the Elixir to play these cards against your opponent will be crucial in winning a game.

Locking your opponent down

If your opponent knows you have a Balloon deck, they may hesitate to use their Musketeer or Minions. This will allow you to lock down your opponent.

This deck can shred opponents even without the Balloon.

Forcing your opponent to not play their Musketeer or Minions in fear of your Balloon will be a huge plus when executing your plays. And if they do, you will always have your Balloon ready in your hand.

Reading your opponent’s deck

Hog Rider deck and Giant Beatdown deck usually only have either 3 elixir Minions or Musketeer to handle Balloon.

Double Prince decks may have minion horde, princess, or ice wizard.

Knowing some of these popular decks will allow you to play moves with confidence. If you see your opponent is using a trifecta deck and they place their musketeer in the back, push the other side hard with your balloon and they will likely not have another counter.

Combos

Miner + Balloon

This one is the more obvious combo however these two cards, naked, will not do much. Always have a zap, poison, or ice spirit trailing behind to improve your push. It is very often that you will have a Baby Dragon left over from defense so adding that into your combo is excellent.

Baby Dragon + Mini P.E.K.K.A + Ice Spirit

Due to the fact that Baby Dragons don’t see much play in ladder, this combo often surprises players. The Baby Dragon is able to protect the Mini P.E.K.K.A from cheap troops such as Goblins while the Baby Dragon tanks for the Mini P.E.K.K.A. The Ice Spirit allows for the Mini P.E.K.K.A to get an extra swing of any point damage troops that your opponent may put down to counter the Mini P.E.K.K.A.

Mini P.E.K.K.A + Balloon

If your opponent lacks cheap troops or has an expensive deck in general, then this combo will be perfect. If your opponent does not have any cheap troops, countering the Mini P.E.K.K.A may be a hassle. With the Balloon trailing behind it, your opponent often has to choose. If you know your opponent has a Minion Horde, place a Poison, Ice Spirit + Zap, or a Baby Dragon to take care of it.

Matchups

• Giant Poison: With the inferno tower and practice, you should be able to counter these decks easily. Ice Spirit + Mini P.E.K.K.A should be able to take out Mini P.E.K.K.As behind the giant. Do not be afraid to use the miner to deal extra damage to troops such as the Bowler or the Ice Wizard. The Baby Dragon can be used to finish supporting Minions or cheap ground troops that your opponent may try to use to distract your Inferno.
• Lava Hound: Inferno towers tend to take care of lava hound decks. In other cases, baby dragon is excellent against the lava hound as it will take care of minions behind it as well as be perfect against lava pups.
• Hog Rider (Trifecta): Inferno Tower will deal a good amount of damage to the Valkyrie and the Hog. Use the mini P.E.K.K.A to take out the supporting Musketeer. Don’t be a afraid to use your Miner to split up the Valkyrie and the Hog. This sets you up for a great counter push.
• Mortar/X-Bow: With the Balloon, these decks should be quite easy. Make sure you do not get careless and have your Balloon die from simply Fire Spirits and Spear Goblins.
• Miner Decks: Mini P.E.K.K.A shreds Miner while baby dragon will deal with most troops that come in. Use Ice Spirit if needed.
